Log Cabin Living

November is for Bread Baking and Butter Churning!

The kindergarteners who visited were excellent bakers and very helpful with household chores! We compared past and present way of life noting many differences including how clothes are washed, how homes are heated, and how water is obtained. The bread and butter will be talked about for years to come. Our log cabin is open to the public on Saturdays from 12p - 2p!

Our Changing Earth

We Don't Take Our Rocks for Granite

It's not our fault that many of our fourth grader minds are shaken with inspiration during this program.  Topics include plate tectonics, stratigraphy, the rock cycle, earth structure, rock, mineral, and fossil identification and glacial movement. Many students have been expressing great interest in careers in geology and paleontology and we hope they continue those aspirations in the future! Our Changing Earth program runs until mid-December.

Do you have a nature photo to share?! We are looking for photos to feature in our newsletter and social media platforms! Credit and gratitude will be given! We are especially excited to receive photos taken at the Johnson Nature Center. Please email your photos with your name (self or business), where and when it was taken (if known) and any description you'd like to share to alposner@bloomfield.org. Thank you!

The Johnson Nature Center sits on a forty-acre site and offers visitors a myriad of visual pleasures and learning opportunities. The visitor's center is open 10am - 4pm on Saturdays and trails are open every day from 8am until dusk.
